The Exocett SS series of rods are designed to make big, heavy flies, unwieldy sinking lines, and short-headed floating lines easy to fish. Hand-crafted in Greenfield, Massachusetts, these rods are accurate and precise; the shorter, 8'8" length makes these rods feel lighter while casting and brings the first stripping guide closer to hand. The powerful tip of these rods picks up sinking line off the water with ease. A cork/rubber composite upper grip makes thin running lines easier to handle and grips while wet. 

We've found these rods, both in the 250 and 350 grain, to be ideal on our home water for both bass and striper, as well as in the salt for rooster fish in Baja, and in mangrove and backwater scenarios. 

We recommend paring the 250 grain rod with Scientific Anglers Sink 30 in 250 grain, Rio Outbound Short lines in 7 weight, and with Rio Bonefish Quickshooter in 7 or 8 weight. 

The 350 grain rod pairs well with Scientific Anglers Sink 30 in 350 grain, Scientific Anglers Grand Slam in 10 weight, and Rio Outbound Short in 9 weight.

Thomas & Thomas has really put the performance back in value with the new Zone series: these rods are made in the USA, feel incredible, and are available in a range of sizes for any pursuit. Available in 3-10 weights, the Zone series rods feature an unsanded blank, premium quality components including a blue fiber reel seat made in-house at T&T, and an aluminum rod tube with a rod sock. 

The 3-7 weight models are $495 while the 8-10 weight models are $495. 

We've been long time fans of the previous iterations of Scott's G rods, and the newest generation is no exception. They flex all the way to the cork, but managed to make the rod feel "fast".
